Adrian Sutherland: Honoring the land through the work of our hands
Artwork for Kamea Chayne’s Green Dreamer, a podcast with “conversations guided by questions around what it means to nurture more loving, liberating, and life-affirming worlds *for all*.”
The episode features Adrian Sutherland, a roots-rocker-with-heart from Attawapiskat First Nation in Ontario’s Far North. I made this illustration while listening to Adrian’s music, and I was inspired by a story he told in which he received a visit from the spirit world in the form of polar bear tracks. I depict Adrian in the act of expressing their art while being in and with the land he loves and learns from every day.
